Our bodies are constantly orchestrating motor recruitment solutions around movements, loads, and postures that are influenced by our environment, culture, and activities. Trauma and learned behaviors contribute to and create, imbalances that challenge our system to alter its movement patterns and adjust its posture to find a path of least resistance. Maladaptation and dysfunction ultimately lead to injury, and while an injury can be treated acutely, dysfunction requires long term intervention. Efficient functional programming should include interventions that address the cycle of dysfunctional movement.
The MOVEMENT OPTIMIZATION SPECIALIST COURSE provides you with an analytical, problem-solving approach geared towards efficient and effective programming for optimal and functional movement. You will be introduced to T.O.S.S. (Training Optimization Support Strategy), a comprehensive strategy that directs various assessment and corrective tools towards an intervention for movement optimization.
“Functional training” is a term that has been over-used and misused to the point that it has become difficult to define it correctly. In this module, we will discuss how functional training is in fact an approach that involves utilizing the right tools at the right time to achieve the desired goal. Your job as a coach is to constantly assess and re-assess what interferes with your client’s optimal function and manage and respond to that consistently with the right tools and an analytical, problem-solving approach.
