I have been a huge believer in isometric and stato-dynamic training ever since I read the work of Bob Hoffman on that type of training years ago. My former weightlifting coach, Pierre Roy, was also a big believer in those two types of methods (I remember “fondly” when he had use do clean & jerks, starting with a 5-sec pause 2cm from the floor on each rep) and both had a huge impact on the methods I use. In this section, you will see both pure isometric (overcoming, yielding, and functional isometrics) as well as combined (stato-dynamic) methods and how to use them to maximize progression.
