    Coach Thib,

Thank you for helping me with the previous topic I posted.

I was wondering if it’s possible for a 1B to have a lower-than-normal volume tolerance (less than the 12-20 set suggestion).

I tend to do a lot of jumps, olympic lifts, and squats for my leg workouts… but I feel like the volume catches up with me by the end of the week. What do you think?

I currently do a weekly spread of:

    Monday – Lower

    Tuesday – Upper

    Wednesday – Speed Development

Thursday – Arms / Band Prehab work

    Friday – Lower

    Saturday – Upper

A typical monday would look something like this:

    A1: Power Clean 3×3 @ 85-90%

    A2: Continuous Broad Jump 3 x 5 (14-15 yards total in 5 jumps)

B1: Clean Pulls from Floor 3×4 @ 100-105% of clean max

B2: Max Height Vertical Jumps from Seated Position 3×3

    C1: Pause Front Squat 3×4 @ 70%

    C2: Ham Curls 3×6-8 @ 80%

    ****

    Absolutely!

1A have the lowest volume tolerance…I worked with two international level 1A athletes and they both could do 6-9 work sets per workout.

1B have the second lowest tolerance for volume… it can range from 12 up to 24ish sets depending on their acetylcholine and serotonin levels.
